Laurie Ottenbreit, P.T. CST, CLT-LANA
Registered Physiotherapist Techniques Certified CranioSacral Therapist Certified Lymphedema Therapist Laurie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with distinction in 1994. A passion for travel led her to work in the U.S.A, U.K, Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East, Africa and South America. This diversity has resulted in an eclectic approach to patient care, with a strong focus on identifying the root cause of dysfunction. In 2017, she completed the Physiotherapy Competency Examination to become licensed in B.C. and to attain a lifelong goal of residing on Vancouver Island. Laurie’s primary clinical focus is chronic pain, lymphedema and cancer rehabilitation. She has achieved a Techniques Certification in CranioSacral Therapy and is a certified lymphedema therapist with the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). Laurie has completed over 185 course hours in the Vodder and Leduc approaches to lymphedema management. Working with minimal resources in developing countries and in foreign languages necessitated the development of keen observational and manual skills to identify and treat causes of dysfunction. Understanding that the body is a representation of a person’s habits, injuries, usage and genetics, Laurie places a strong emphasis on carefully tailoring home exercise programs, teaching self-management strategies and facilitating a person’s ownership of their recovery. Laurie is deeply passionate about elevating the quality of life of her patients and as such is continually seeking to improve her skills, knowledge base and effectiveness as a health care provider. It is Laurie’s heartfelt desire to provide comprehensive cancer and lymphedema rehabilitation and chronic pain management to the residents of Nanaimo and surrounding areas. She looks forward to meeting and collaborating with you in an effort to find viable solutions to your health and wellness challenges. |
